Midday movers: DryShips, Herbalife, USG & More

Take a look at some of Thursday's midday movers:

Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia gained on news it had settled with Macy's on a breach-of-contract lawsuit involving J.C. Penney. Macy's said the settlement does not impact its lawsuit against J.C. Penney.

Herbalife rose after D.A. Davidson picked the stock as its best idea for 2014 on increased sales in China.

US Steel moved higher after KeyBanc upgraded the steelmaker to buy from hold with a price target of $37 a share.

Gold mining stocks including Barrick Gold, Newmont Mining, AngloGold, Goldcorp and Yamana Gold climbed as gold prices rallied after falling 28 percent last year.

Oil stocks, including E, , and all fell as oil prices declined.

Jacobs Engineering rose after RW Baird upgraded its stock to outperform from neutral and raised its price target to $74 from $67 a share.

Pappa John's International rose after KeyBanc upgraded its stock to buy from hold with a price target of $53 a share, based on continued domestic market share gains.

Cell Therapeutics gained after the FDA lifted its hold on studies testing the company's blood-cancer drug.

DryShips fell after the dry bulk shipper said it would resume sales under a previously announced $200 million offering of its common shares.

USG Corp rose on news that Berkshire Hathaway increased its stake to 30.5 percent..

Ascena Retail Group gained after Goldman Sachs upgraded the stock to buy from neutral with a $30 price target.
