LinkedIn sues to fight content-scraping bots

LinkedIn, a professional social network, filed a suit to stop unidentified rivals from allegedly taking user profile information and attempting to start a competing service, Re/code reported Wednesday.

The company's lawsuit filed this week in the Federal Court for the Northern California District claims that unknown persons have used automated software programs to scrap user data. The suit also claims the defendants had committed computer fraud and violated the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
